Geography & terrain

Viswema lies in the Kohima district of Nagaland at about 1,700 m, 22 km from Kohima and 80 km from Dimapur — the trek village of the region, its Dzukou base, the ridges and the meadows set on the Naga hills.

History & culture

The village's story runs with the 20th-century trek era — the trek village of the 20th-century-era trail life and the 19th-century-era Angami life of the village councils, with the village's modern role as the base of the Dzukou circuit and the home of the ridge trails and the meadows and the 2000s-era camps; the village's history of the 1980s-era treks and the valley paths, gives Viswema its trek character.
