Geography & terrain

Shergaon is the model-village of the West Kameng hills, 21 km from Bomdila down into a wide orchard valley — a Shertukpen settlement of apple gardens, pine slopes and meadows strung along the river at the forest roads' end, named India's 'beautiful village' in the national awards.

History & culture

The Shertukpen people's fields and gardens have held the valley for generations; in recent decades the village reinvented itself through community-run ecotourism — homestays, orchard trails and apple seasons that won the national tourism award for the most beautiful tourism village, turning traditional farming into the valley's modern pride.
