Satkosia lies in the Angul district of Odisha, 150 km from Bhubaneswar and 60 km from Angul — the river gorge of the region, its 1983 sanctuary, the boat safaris and the gharials set on the Mahanadi's gorge.
History & culture
The sanctuary's story runs with the 1983 wildlife era — the river gorge of the 1983 sanctuary and the 2007 tiger reserve of the Mahanadi, with the sanctuary's modern role as the nature stop of the Angul circuit and the home of the boat safaris and the gharial grounds and the gorge views; the sanctuary's history of the 2016 gharial count and the tiger reintroduction and the river bends, gives Satkosia its gorge character.
