The fort's story runs with the 1657 Maratha era — the twin fort of the Shrivardhan-Manaranjan and the 1657-era watch of the Maratha rule, with the fort's modern role as the trek stop of the Mumbai circuit and the home of the 1657-era walls and the Udhewadi village and the 2-hour monsoon waterfalls; the fort's history of the 1818 British-era era and the night camping and the valley views, gives Rajmachi its twin-fort character.
