Geography & terrain

Radhanagari WLS lies in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, 55 km from Kolhapur and 400 km from Mumbai — the gaur sanctuary of the region, its 1967 reserve, the safaris and the Dajipur bison set on the Sahyadri's southern ridge.

History & culture

The sanctuary's story runs with the 1958 wildlife era — the gaur sanctuary of the 1958 founding (the first of the India) and the bison herds of the Dajipur, with the sanctuary's modern role as the wildlife stop of the Kolhapur circuit and the home of the 1967-era protection and the Dajipur viewpoint and the deer grounds; the sanctuary's history of the 2014 reserve status and the gaur census and the monsoon's green, gives Radhanagari its gaur character.
