Geography & terrain

Pin Valley NP lies in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh at about 3,500 m, 150 km from Kaza and 200 km from Manali — the cold desert of the region, its snow leopards, the high treks and the Pin river set on the Spiti's valley.

History & culture

The park's story runs with the 1987 national park era — the protected valley of the Pin river and the snow leopard's home of the 1987 park, with the park's modern role as the trek stop of the Spiti circuit and the home of the high passes and the Himalayan ibex and the mud villages; the park's history of the 2012 snow leopard census and the Chandertal trek, gives Pin Valley its cold-desert character.
