Pauri lies in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand at about 1,650 m, 160 km from Rishikesh and 200 km from Dehradun — the Kandoliya town of the region, its Himalayan views, the offbeat quiet and the forts set on the Garhwal's ridge.
