History & culture
The town's story runs with the 1857 colonial discovery — the hill station of the British-era (the Queen of the Satpura) and the Pandava-era legends of the Pandav Caves, with the town's modern role as the base of the Satpura Tiger Reserve and the home of the Bee Falls and the Dhoopgarh peak; the town's history of the 1860s cantonment and the forest's tribal life, gives Pachmarhi its hill-station character.
