Narayan Sarovar lies in the Kutch district of Gujarat, 190 km from Bhuj and 30 km from the Pakistan border — the sacred lake town of the region, its temple, the ghats and the desert edge set on the Kutch's western wastes.

History & culture

The town's story runs with the Hindu pilgrimage tradition — one of the five sacred sarovars of the India and the lake of the Narayana's shrine, with the town's modern role as the border pilgrimage of the Kutch circuit and the home of the 12th-century temple and the 2002 Samadhi temple of the Kripalu Maharaj; the town's history of the Vaishnav and the Jain pilgrimage and the desert's isolation, gives the town its sacred-lake character.
