Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Gondia and the Bhandara districts of Maharashtra, 120 km from Nagpur and 60 km from Gondia — the deer sanctuary of the region, its tigers, the lakes and the safaris set on the Satpura's eastern forest.
History & culture
The sanctuary's story runs with the 1970 protection — the Nagzira of the 14 villages' forest and the tiger corridor of the Pench-Tadoba link, with the sanctuary's modern role as the wildlife stop of the Nagpur circuit and the home of the six lakes and the deer herds; the sanctuary's history of the 1974 wild buffalo sightings and the 2012 tiger reserve plans, gives Nagzira its deer-forest character.
