Muthodi lies in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, 25 km from Chikmagalur and 250 km from Bangalore — the forest camp of the region, its Bhadra tiger reserve edge, the safaris and the camping set on the Bhadra river's forest.

History & culture

The town's story runs with the 1998 tiger reserve — the Muthodi of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve and the sanctuary's forest camp of the wildlife department, with the town's modern role as the safari stop of the Chikmagalur circuit and the home of the Bhadra's wildlife (the tigers, the leopards and the gaurs); the town's history of the Bhadra dam's reservoir and the forest's tribal life, gives Muthodi its forest-camp character.
