Mullayanagiri lies in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka at 1,930 m, 30 km from Chikmagalur and 250 km from Bangalore — the highest peak of the Karnataka, its sunrise, the trek and the temple set on the Baba Budangiri range.

The peak's story runs with the Sufi-era pilgrimage — the peak of the Mullayyana Swamy temple and the Baba Budan's shrine of the coffee legend, with the peak's modern role as the sunrise stop of the Chikmagalur circuit and the home of the 4 km trek from the Sarpadhara point; the peak's history of the 17th-century Sufi saint Baba Budan and the coffee's first planting, gives Mullayanagiri its peak character.
