History & culture

The town's story runs with the 1559 Portuguese building — the Moti Daman fort of the Estado da India (the largest of the Daman forts) and the town of the colonial churches, with the town's modern role as the heritage stop of the coastal circuit and the home of the St. Jerome's fort and the Our Lady of the Sea church; the town's history of the Portuguese rule of the 450 years and the 1961 liberation, gives Moti Daman its Portuguese character.
