Geography & terrain

Miao is the frontier town at the road's end in Changlang district, near the Namdapha park boundary and the Myanmar border country — a grid of forest-department offices, Lisu and Singpho settlements and basic lodgings, wrapped by jungle that climbs the hills on every side.

History & culture

The town grew as the administrative outpost of the border tract — long the trade and meeting point of the region's Lisu and Singpho communities and, since the 1970s, the civilian gateway of Namdapha's research and tourism; its lane life still runs on forest time and river news.
