Mandarmani lies on the Bay of Bengal coast of Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, 14 km from the mouth of the Rasulpur river — a long straight sand beach of 13 km where cars and bikes drive on the wet compacted sand, with seaside resort rows set between the dunes and the palm groves.

History & culture

Unlike Digha's older growth, Mandarmani developed from the 2000s as West Bengal's 'country club' beach — its long driveable strand and the resort strip giving a modern, quieter sibling to the state's classic seaside; the coast's old fishing hamlets and the nearby river mouth keep the working-India edge visible.
