Geography & terrain

Longleng lies in the Longleng district of Nagaland, 100 km from Kohima and 160 km from Dimapur — the district town of the Phom country, its festival grounds, the villages and the hills set on the state's north-east.

History & culture

The town's story runs with the Phom heritage — the town of the Phom tribe's district (carved from the Tuensang in 2004), with the town's modern role as the home of the Monyu festival of the April sowing and the gateway of the Phom villages; the town's history of the tribal life and the old folk traditions, gives Longleng its Phom-town character.
