Geography & terrain

Little Andaman lies across the Duncan Passage, the last island of the Andaman group proper before the Nicobar straits — a 730-sq-km low island of oil-palm plantations, rainforest and long surf beaches, with Hut Bay its port town and Butler Bay, Whisper Waves and the White Surf fall on the western shore.

History & culture

Settled late as a tribal reserve frontier, the island hosted a British-era coconut and forest economy, then large oil-palm estates after independence; the Onge tribe's reserve covers parts of the interior and east, so visitors move mostly along the west-coast ribbon of bays and beaches under relaxed but real entry rules.
