Hazaribagh National Park lies in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, 20 km from the town and 100 km from Ranchi — the hill-forest park of the plateau, its sal woodlands and the water bodies set about 600 m above the region's country.

The park was established in 1955 as one of the region's early reserves — the sambar and the deer forests of the Hazaribagh plateau, with the park's history of the earlier private reserve of the maharaja era; the park's watch towers and the forest drives, with its story of the region's Sal country, give Hazaribagh NP its hill-forest character.
