Eklingji lies in the Rajasthan's Udaipur district, 22 km north of Udaipur city — the temple complex of the Eklingji (Shiva) shrine, its 108-temple cluster set in the valley of the Aravalli's green near the old Mewar country.

History & culture

The temple's tradition runs to the 8th century — the founding associated with the Mewar rulers, whose patron deity the Eklingji became, with the shrine's modern rebuilding by the 15th-century Rana Kumbha and the later restorations; the four-faced marble idol of the complex, the old ruler's role as the devan of the deity, and the surrounding temples of the complex give Eklingji its status as the state's royal shrine.
