Geography & terrain

Dzongri lies in the Kanchenjunga National Park of West Sikkim, 80 km from Yuksom at about 4,030 m — the high meadow of the trekking route, its open grassland and the snow ramparts' views set above the deep forests of the Himalaya.

History & culture

The meadow's story runs with the trekking heritage of Sikkim — the Dzongri–Goecha La route that opened the region's great mountain views to the trekkers, with the site's traditional role as the grazing ground of the high country; the sanctuary's forests of the Kanchenjunga National Park and the route's monasteries (the old Dubdi of Yuksom) give Dzongri its place in the Himalaya's trekking map.
