Geography & terrain

Dudhsagar Falls is a 310 m, four-tier waterfall on the Mandovi river at the Goa–Karnataka border, deep in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary — its name ('sea of milk') comes from the white spray of the plunge.

History & culture

A Portuguese-era picnic legend (the tale of the princess and the milk-jugs explains the name) and a Bollywood backdrop — the falls have been Goa's interior icon since the 1950s.

Rail to Kulem/Castle Rock then a forest jeep, or drive from Margao (50 km). The falls are 60 km from the Goa beaches.
