Dilli Haat lies in the INA neighbourhood of central Delhi near Hauz Khas — a crafts and food bazaar of the city's tourism, its pavilions and stalls set in a walled market of about 2 hectares by the Aurobindo Marg.

The bazaar opened in 1994 as the government's rotating-crafts project — the stalls of the states' artisans on their rotation periods, with the design of the traditional village haat in the urban city; its story as the city's accessible craft and food fair — from the regional dishes to the handmade goods of the country's craftspeople — gives Dilli Haat its modern Delhi character.
