Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary lies on the Hirakud reservoir's southern edge in the Bargarh district of Odisha, 30 km from Sambalpur — 353 sq km of the reservoir-forest country, its peninsula and the ghati country holding the leopard and the deer of the eastern forests.
History & culture
Declared in 1985, the sanctuary's forest has protected the reservoir's wildlife edge — the leopards, the bison and the deer of the Hirakud peninsulas, with the region's great water placed within the drive's country; the sanctuary's towers, the cliff edges and the corridor links of the eastern ghats complete the reserve's story.
