Geography & terrain

Bogatha Falls cascades in the Koyagudem forest of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, southern Telangana, about 140 km from Khammam and 250 km from Hyderabad — a wide chalk-grey waterfall pouring over a stepped rock bluff into a green pool, off a forested dirt track through the Wyra-Koyagudem reaches of the Sabari country.

History & culture

Long known to the local Koya and tribal villages — the falls mark the wet-season runoff of the hill country (Koyagudem) that feeds the Wyra reservoir — the site only entered the wider travel map in the late 2010s as Telangana's answer to 'Niagara', when social-media photos of its chalky stepped cascade spread; its popularity quickly carried basic tourism infrastructure (a step-path and railings) without disturbing the wild setting.
