Bheemunipatnam (Bheemili) sits on the Andhra coast 24 km north-east of Visakhapatnam, at the mouth of the Gosthani river where it meets the Bay of Bengal — a long, quieter beach town strung along the confluence, with low headlands and palm-backed sands.
History & culture
Claimed as the oldest municipality on the East Coast — the town received its municipal charter in 1861 under the Dutch-era settlement, a trading port of the Dutch East India Company with a colonial cemetery and an old lighthouse at the river mouth. The Pandukondalu boulders offshore carry older telegraph-history lore; today the town is Vizag's heritage-escape beach.
