Geography & terrain

Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary sits on Delhi's southern lip in the Aravalli ridge — a scrub-and-forest wedge between the Bhatti mines and the Surajkund road, gashed by old mining pits that now fill with water. At 6,839 acres it is Delhi's largest green pulse.

History & culture

The sanctuary's hills carry Delhi's oldest ridge geology, while the Bhatti sand-mining past left the crater-lakes that now anchor the reserve's biodiversity. Declared a sanctuary in the 1980s consolidating the Aravalli refuge, it is being rewilded as the stage of the Delhi ridge's leopard-and-neelgai ecology.
