Geography & terrain

Ashwem is a low-key palm strand on North Goa's Mandrem headland, north of Morjim — a 2 km crescent of white sand fronting the Arabian Sea, with the Chapora river estuary closing its north end.

History & culture

A quiet fishing-pavement village until the new millennium, Ashwem grew into Goa's understated café beach — holiday homes and surf schools replacing shack strips without the crowds of Baga. The beach's olive-ridley nesting stretch is community-protected each winter.
